Heads-up Display

Who knew that I would ever be in a position where I can own a car with Heads-up Display. When I was a kid, it used to be reserved for the uber fancy cars. Never in my wildest dreams could I imagine that I would be writing about the one in my own car!

My partner has the excitement of an innocent child. When we first got the car, we was so intrigued with the content on the screen, he forgot he was travelling a 120km/hr down the freeway.

But as the novelty started wearing off, I realised how useful it's become. I am way more conscious of the speed I am travelling. Sure, I could be glancing to the instruments cluster, but having it right there inline with where you're looking is just simple treat.

Apart from the speed I am travelling, I can also look at the speed I am allowed to travel which I am sure, has saved me from many potential tickets. Also, the blindspot monitoring lighting up and lane assist info is equally useful.

I can appreciate the time and thought that would have gone into making this black magic a standard feature in my car. The one feature I wish we were able to use more is the turn-by-turn instructions. Since we're making use of Google Maps more often than not, the built-in satnav is not as intuitive and easy to use, hence us always falling back to Google Maps.

So, Dear Mazda, thanks for putting the effort into making an excellent feature not just an after thought. I love my hologram driving coach, also known as the Head-up Display.
